**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED! The safety of our employees, our customers and our community is our highest priority, so for now we are postponing our store events due to the Coronavirus. We plan to get this event back on the calendar soon, so stay tuned!**
Plastics are everywhere – they are a central part of modern life and a signature of contemporary society’s impact on the environment from huge gyres in the ocean down to tiny particles of plastic called microplastic.
Can we live in the modern world and still protect our natural resources from plastics in the watershed down to the scale of microplastics?
Join us for a conversation with local community groups and science organizations taking on the challenge of plastics right here in our region: what are the problems of plastics? And what are the solutions locally?
These five organizations will share the current state of their work in a quick lightning talk format:
- Rivers without Plastics
- Black Rock Refill
- The Nature Conservancy in Nevada
- The League to Save Lake Tahoe
- Desert Research Institute
And then they will join together in a panel discussion with the community to look at what we can do individually and together to take on the challenges of plastics right here at home.
Get involved in local initiatives. Discover what you can do at home. Learn about how you can influence decisions on plastics. Ignite your understanding of the science behind the problems and solutions.
This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
Join us for happy hour from 6:45 - 7:30.
Our program kicks off at 7:30.
And bring your own cup to help us eliminate plastic waste at this event!
